Foundation Proposes ‘United States of Nigeria’ Model for National Restructuring
The Lovers of Hope, Helping and Care Foundation is calling for a nationwide restructuring of Nigeria into an indivisible federation of empowered states. It proposes the name “United States of Nigeria” and rejects regional separation, secession and fragmentation. The foundation says states should have greater authority over local governance, resource management and internal security, while remaining fully accountable to the Federal Government. It also argues that governors who receive security funds should be held responsible for addressing insecurity within their states. Its proposals include stronger anti-corruption laws, coordinated operations involving security agencies and forest guards, and prosecution of bandits, terrorists and kidnappers in line with due process and human rights standards. The foundation urges dialogue among ethnic, regional and community groups, arguing that a nationally agreed restructuring framework could promote equity, stability and long-term unity.
