Catholic Diocese, CAN Reject Inclusion of Enugu Bishop in APC Campaign Council
The Catholic Diocese of Enugu and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Enugu have rejected the inclusion of Auxiliary Bishop Ernest Obodo and other Christian leaders in the Enugu APC Campaign Council. Both bodies said the names were published without consultation or consent. Bishop Obodo, who also chairs CAN in Enugu State, was listed as Director of the Faith Based (Christians) Campaign Group. The Diocese said the publication falsely suggested political alignment and demanded the immediate removal of Bishop Obodo’s name and those of other Catholic priests. It warned against any further unauthorised use of their names, titles or images for partisan purposes. CAN Enugu also distanced itself from the list, insisting that it does not endorse political parties and must remain a unifying body for Christians of different political views.
