Onaiyekan: Ndigbo Must Be Free to Choose Their Preferred 2027 Candidate

Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, says voters in the South-East should be free to choose their preferred candidate in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in Enugu, he said it is not the duty of governors to direct citizens on how to vote. He said each person should be allowed to use the ballot to express their views. His comments followed Anambra Governor Charles Soludo’s call for voters to prioritise candidates’ competence over emotion. Soludo has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
