Kogi Plans Coal-Fired Power Project and Major Civil Service Recruitment

Kogi Plans Coal-Fired Power Project and Major Civil Service Recruitment

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo says the state plans to harness coal deposits in Ankpa and other areas to generate electricity, create jobs and improve living standards. Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja, Ododo said Kogi’s solid minerals have remained largely untapped despite their potential to support economic growth. He also announced that the state will recruit hundreds of qualified residents into the civil service through what he described as a transparent process. The governor said improved federal allocations, higher internally generated revenue and the implementation of the new minimum wage have strengthened the state’s capacity to sustain its workforce. He also pointed to ongoing federal infrastructure and economic projects as potential drivers of investment in Kogi.
