Shettima Inaugurates 33.5km Elele-Omoku Road, Says Infrastructure Will Expand Opportunity
Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated the 33.5-kilometre Elele-Umudioga-Egbeda-Ubimini-Akpabu-Ikiri-Omoku dual carriageway in Rivers State on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The road cuts across Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas. It serves agricultural, commercial, oil and gas communities along the Elele-Omoku corridor. Shettima said better roads would help farmers reach markets, reduce business logistics costs and improve access to jobs, schools and healthcare. Governor Siminalayi Fubara said the project, which includes a river-crossing bridge and streetlights, would improve security in areas previously affected by kidnapping and oil bunkering. He urged residents to protect the road from vandalism and misuse.
