INEC Chairman Says Commission Staff Are Among Nigeria’s Lowest Paid
INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan says the commission is pursuing a separate salary structure to improve the welfare of its staff ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Amupitan said INEC workers were among the least paid in the country. He argued that better pay is necessary to demand accountability and stronger performance from electoral officials. He said the commission had identified gaps in the electoral system and was taking steps to address them, including reforms to staff remuneration and welfare.
