Suspected Ansaru Raiders Kill Three Soldiers in Raid on Kwara Base
The attack struck a military camp in Kemanji village, Kaiama LGA, around 3 a.m. Suspected Ansaru fighters stormed the base and opened fire on sleeping soldiers. Three soldiers were killed and four others wounded, including a local vigilante. The assailants also carted away eight operational motorcycles and a gun truck, intelligence sources and residents said. Kemanji sits on the edge of the Kainji National Park, an area where Ansaru is believed to maintain hideouts. A local vigilante member added that troops fought back and killed many attackers. Military and police authorities in Kwara State have not yet released official comments on the incident.
