Blaqbonez Shares How Asake Delivered His ‘Ikebe 3000’ Verse in Under 24 Hours
Blaqbonez has shared how his collaborations with Asake, ‘Chanel’ and ‘Ikebe 3000’, came together. He said he first realised the potential of ‘Chanel’ after playing it at a small London gathering, where listeners repeatedly asked to hear it again. He later sent the record to Asake, and they met in Nigeria to complete the collaboration. For ‘Ikebe 3000’, Blaqbonez said Asake recorded his verse in less than 24 hours while in Los Angeles. The rapper woke up to a call from Asake playing the finished verse. Both songs later topped Nigerian streaming charts, with ‘Ikebe 3000’ also reaching No. 5 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
