Woman in Kakamega Allegedly Pours Boiling Water on Husband, Second Wife and Child
A family meeting in Shivagala village, Kakamega South took a horrific turn on the morning of June 1, 2026. Police say Mary Mmbone Khalechi poured a sufuria of boiling water on her husband, Danston Isundwa Mmbehi, when he introduced his newly married second wife, Fransisca Makhokha, and their 16-month-old child. The scalding water struck all three victims, leaving the father and toddler with severe burns. Neighbours rushed in as screams echoed through the homestead. Both Danston and the child were taken to Kakamega General Hospital, where the child remains in serious condition. Mary fled the scene before officers arrived. A manhunt is underway, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
