Meiran Resident Arrested for Allegedly Dumping Refuse in Drain During Rainfall
A Meiran resident has been arrested for allegedly dumping refuse into a drainage channel during rainfall in Lagos. The arrest followed a tip-off to a joint enforcement team involving the Lagos Waste Management Authority, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) and mobile police officers. LAWMA said the suspect was taken to the KAI headquarters for further prosecution. The agency warned residents against disposing of waste in drainage channels, noting that the practice blocks drains and worsens flooding.
