NDLEA: Women Outnumber Men in Edo Drug-Trafficking Arrests

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Edo State says women accounted for more drug-trafficking arrests than men in its latest assessment. The agency recorded 29 female suspects and 20 male suspects. The Edo State NDLEA Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju, described the trend as worrying. He linked it to growing socio-economic vulnerability among women and weakening family support systems. The command said it secured four drug-related convictions during the month. It also counselled 24 people affected by drug use and reunited them with their families. Ofoyeju said officers are stepping up arrests, seizures and public reorientation efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
