60 Arrested After Police Constable Is Allegedly Attacked at Calabar Market
Police in Calabar have arrested 60 people after a police constable was allegedly assaulted near Watt Market. The officer said he tried to impound a motorcycle after it reportedly stepped on his leg while he was on duty on 11 September. He alleged that roadside traders helped the rider escape and attacked him during the confrontation. According to the officer, his uniform and shoes were torn, his phone was taken, and his riot gun was tampered with. Police said the suspects are being screened and questioned, while efforts continue to identify other people allegedly involved.
