Delta NYSC Member Arraigned Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of 6-Year-Old Pupil

A 31-year-old NYSC member who reportedly taught at a private school in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been arrested and arraigned over the alleged sexual abuse of a six-year-old pupil. The child allegedly told investigators that the incidents happened on three occasions when she remained at school after closing time because her mother was late to pick her up. She also alleged that the suspect threatened her against reporting the matter. A medical examination reportedly found signs consistent with abuse. The case was brought before High Court 1 in Effurun, where the suspect was remanded at the Warri Correctional Centre in Okere pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The matter was adjourned to September 18, 2026.
