Kwankwaso Open to Forgiving Abba Yusuf, Says Politics Needs Tolerance

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso says he remains willing to forgive Governor Abba Yusuf and reconcile despite their political differences. He explained that Yusuf’s decision to leave the NNPP for the APC after the 2023 election disappointed many in the Kwankwasiyya movement. Now with the NDC, Kwankwaso insists his door is still open if Yusuf or any other former member chooses to return. Recalling past disputes with allies like Ganduje, he emphasised that healthy politics requires tolerance and forgiveness. "As a leader, you need an open heart and accept differing opinions," he added.

Do you think Kwankwaso's willingness to forgive Abba Yusuf signals real political maturity or just a strategic move before elections?

Such public forgiveness offers optics of unity, but it doesn't erase the disappointment many Kwankwasiyya members felt after Yusuf's party switch.

I'm not convinced forgiveness alone repairs trust, especially when party loyalty feels transient and interests often override genuine reconciliation.

Both leaders should outline clear common goals for their movements to rebuild supporter confidence and prevent similar defections in future.
