One Year After His Passing: Honouring President Buhari’s Leadership and Legacy — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Today marks one year since President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR left us. As a former Chief of Army Staff, I served under his command during some of Nigeria’s toughest hours. In 2015, he gave a clear mandate to degrade Boko Haram and restore our nation’s territorial integrity. His strategic vision and unwavering political will empowered our troops to reclaim the Northeast. He trusted our expertise, demanded accountability, and led with integrity. In life and in death, he embraced discipline and humility, retiring to Daura with the same quiet dignity he showed throughout his presidency. We mourn his loss but celebrate a legacy of honesty, courage, and patriotic determination. May his memory continue to inspire the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
