Bandits Kidnap Health Worker, Wife and Others in Iluke, Kogi State
For the first time, armed gunmen targeted Iluke in the Bunu district of Kabba-Bunu LGA. Around 1 a.m. on May 21, attackers stormed the Oke Bukun area, abducting a community health worker known as “Dr. Ebi” and his wife. They fled on motorcycles, firing sporadic shots as they escaped. The raid has plunged Iluke and neighbouring communities in MopAmuro and Ijumu LGAs into panic. This violence follows an incident on May 4, when a commercial driver named Jacob was seized on the Iluke–Oferre road and held for a ₦50 million ransom. On April 16, bandits also abducted two wives, two children and an aide of the Odai monarch, demanding ₦150 million. Two of the monarch’s children were reportedly killed when the ransom deadline passed. Security agencies have not yet released an official statement on these attacks.
