DSS Seizes Machine Guns, AK-47 Rifles in Cross River Arms Bust
The Cross River Government has commended the Department of State Services and other security agencies after the interception of a cache of high-calibre weapons in the state. The seized arms included three General Purpose Machine Guns and seven AK-47 rifles. Two suspected gunrunners were arrested during the intelligence-led operation. Deputy Governor Peter Odey inspected the weapons at the DSS headquarters in Calabar on behalf of Governor Bassey Otu. He said the arrests could help security agencies identify others involved in the illegal arms trade and prevent violence in Cross River and neighbouring states.
