Katsina PoS Operator Held Over Alleged Bandit Financing Network
The Katsina State Security Watch Corps has detained a PoS operator and three other suspects over allegations that they helped a bandit leader move money, obtain ammunition and secure supplies in Matazu Local Government Area. Investigators allege that the PoS operator processed cash transactions of between ₦3 million and ₦5 million a day and transferred funds through an alleged network linked to weapons procurement. The other suspects are accused of collecting ammunition, selling cattle and providing logistical support. The arrests have unsettled residents of Matazu, where years of bandit attacks have caused deaths, abductions and displacement. Security officials say the suspects are under investigation, while the police command said it was verifying the reported arrests. All allegations remain subject to investigation and due process.
