Suspected Boko Haram Storms Nganzai Police Station, Killing Four Officers
At about 1 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP gunmen launched a fierce attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State. They used rocket-propelled grenades and other heavy weapons, causing significant damage and partially burning an unserviceable APC. Four officers lost their lives: Inspector Samuel Ezekiel, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed, and Police Constables Bitrus Luka and Shaibu Bukar. The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, visited the scene to console personnel and commend those who resisted despite overwhelming firepower. Tactical teams have been placed on high alert and operations have intensified in the area. The fallen officers were laid to rest in Maiduguri on Sunday under Islamic and Christian rites, with prayers offered by the command chaplaincy.
