ECWA Declares Security Emergency over Rising Killings and Abductions
By Kingsley Chukwuka The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has issued a stark warning about Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation. ECWA President Rev. Dr. Job Bagat Mallam condemned recent attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States and a mass abduction in Kwara State. He urged an immediate, intelligence-led overhaul of national security measures. Rev. Mallam detailed brutal assaults on wedding guests in Kahir village, Kaduna, and killings in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North. He also raised alarm over the kidnapping of ten people in Ora-Ago, Kwara State. While three have been freed, kidnappers are demanding hefty ransoms for the remaining seven. Although governors of Kaduna and Plateau responded quickly, the church said these actions fall short. ECWA calls for advanced surveillance in rural areas, community-based policing, swift prosecutions and a compensation plan for displaced families. Beyond government action, the church challenged all Nigerians to reject division and hatred. Rev. Mallam insisted that protecting citizens is the state’s non-negotiable duty and urged intensified efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks once and for all.
