Police Neutralise Five Bandits, Rescue Kidnap Victim in Multi-State Operations
The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives neutralised at least five bandits and several armed attackers during operations in Sokoto, Niger and Kebbi states. A planned attack on Yadiya Village in Sokoto was reportedly foiled, with four bandits killed and an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a magazine recovered. In Niger, one bandit was killed after an attack on Pelegi Community in Mashegu LGA, though five residents were reportedly abducted. Police said rescue efforts are ongoing. In Kebbi, Mobile Police personnel exchanged fire with armed terrorists for more than two hours, with several attackers reportedly neutralised. Police also rescued a 41-year-old kidnap victim in Rivers State and arrested three suspects. Other operations led to arrests over alleged child trafficking in Abia, drug dealing in Anambra, and kidnapping and banditry in Kwara. The cases are under investigation by state criminal investigation departments.
