CBN Governor Cardoso Appointed Chairman of AFC Board
The Africa Finance Corporation has appointed Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso as chairman of its board of directors. He succeeds Ireti Samuel-Ogbu, who will remain on the board. AFC said Cardoso’s background in banking, economic policy and public-sector leadership will support its push to finance infrastructure and industrial projects across Africa. Cardoso has led Nigeria’s monetary, foreign-exchange and financial-sector reforms since becoming CBN governor in September 2023. The corporation is expanding investments in transport, manufacturing and digital infrastructure, including the Lobito Corridor Railway Project in Angola. It is also supporting Dangote Group’s fertiliser expansion and WIOCC Group’s digital infrastructure projects across Africa.
