No Governor Owns My Vote: Nigerians Must Demand Accountability
As campaign activity gathers pace, I am troubled by politicians who speak as if they can deliver millions of votes to any candidate. Our votes do not belong to governors, party leaders or political godfathers. They belong to individual Nigerians. While politicians negotiate alliances and defections, many families are dealing with high food prices, transport costs, unreliable electricity, unemployment and the rising cost of running small businesses. Leaders seeking another mandate must face the public, defend their records and explain how they will improve daily life. I believe Nigerians must reject intimidation, vote-buying and empty promises. We should verify our voter registration, participate peacefully and vote according to our conscience. No political party or office holder is bigger than Nigeria, and accountability must remain the standard.
