Davido Unveils ‘Oriadé’: Destiny Meets the Crown in New Album

Davido Unveils ‘Oriadé’: Destiny Meets the Crown in New Album — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Davido has announced his sixth studio album, Oriadé, set to arrive on 31 July 2026. He introduced it with a cinematic teaser captioned “The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne.” Oriadé merges the Yoruba words ori (“destiny”) and adé (“crown”), a nod to his lineage in the Adeleke royal family of Ede, Osun State. The title also echoes one of his own names. The lead single “I Know Who I Be,” produced by Jazzwrld and GL Ceejay, offers a first taste of the album’s direction. Following 2025’s 5ive, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart, this project marks Davido’s next chapter after Coachella and a spot on the FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack.

He's calling it 'Oriadé' and tying it to Yoruba heritage. It remains to be seen if the album actually explores those roots beyond the teaser.

The teaser feels over the top. Sometimes Davido's strength lies in straightforward melodies, not cinematic proclamations or royal symbolism.
