Ejiofor Commends Flydubai Captain After Reported Cockpit Attack
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has praised Captain Smit Machchhar following reports that the Flydubai pilot helped prevent a possible disaster after an alleged cockpit attack on a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight. The aircraft, carrying 174 passengers, was reportedly diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after the captain was injured during a confrontation with his co-pilot. Passengers, crew members and two off-duty pilots were said to have helped restrain the suspect and regain control of the situation. Ejiofor described the captain’s actions as courageous and called for stronger psychological screening, security safeguards and emergency training for flight personnel. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not publicly established a motive.
