‘I Paid the Price for Her Happiness’ – Iyabo Ojo Explains Why Her Ex Walked Their Daughter Down the Aisle

‘I Paid the Price for Her Happiness’ – Iyabo Ojo Explains Why Her Ex Walked Their Daughter Down the Aisle — 1 of 2
1 / 2

In a recent interview, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo said she believes in ancestral curses and didn’t want her children to repeat her parents’ mistakes. She said she ‘paid the price’ so her daughter would be happy in marriage. She chose to include her ex-husband at the wedding to show he’s alive and involved. Speculation grew when Priscilla’s father was absent at the Tanzania introduction ceremony. But he later walked her down the aisle at both the traditional and white weddings. Iyabo also revealed she only told her children about the divorce when Priscilla was 15. Reflecting on her own struggles, she said she vowed her children would not feel ‘daddy issues’.

What reasons might explain Iyabo involving her former partner in that ceremony?

It's interesting she describes this decision as 'paying the price' instead of framing it simply as a cooperative parenting choice.

I agree. Calling it 'paying the price' sounds dramatic, while co-parenting teamwork seems more accurate.

Perhaps parents should focus on clear boundaries and communication after divorce to support children's emotional wellbeing during major milestones.
