NAFDAC Says Chinese Syndicates Now Produce Fake Goods Inside Nigeria
NAFDAC says Chinese-linked counterfeit syndicates are contributing to the growing circulation of fake, adulterated and unsafe consumer products in Nigeria. The agency’s Director of Investigation and Enforcement, Martins Iluyomade, said intelligence reports show that some networks have moved beyond importing counterfeit goods. They now allegedly run production and distribution operations within the country. He said the groups identify fast-selling products, send samples abroad for replication and distribute the counterfeit versions through logistics companies they control. The development raises fresh concerns about consumer safety and the effectiveness of product monitoring.
