Atiku Warns Economic Hardship Is Pushing Young Nigerians to Sell Kidneys
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised alarm over reports that some young Nigerians are allegedly selling kidneys for about ₦1.7 million to survive rising living costs. He said young people should be building careers, businesses and innovative ideas, rather than considering the sale of body organs. He linked the reported desperation to rising costs of food, transport, rent, school fees, medicine and electricity. Atiku said Nigeria’s laws against organ trafficking are not enough without economic policies that make basic needs, healthcare and decent jobs more accessible.
