Al Jazeera Cameraman Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Gaza
An Al Jazeera Mubasher cameraman was killed on Saturday when an Israeli drone struck a home in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The network confirmed the death less than three months after his brother, also an Al Jazeera journalist, was killed in a separate strike. The Israel Defense Forces said he was a member of Hamas’ military wing and served as a sniper, and claimed he was targeted alongside two other militants. Al Jazeera denied those allegations and condemned the killing as an attempt to intimidate journalists. His brother, a correspondent for the same live channel, died in April when an Israeli strike hit his vehicle in Gaza City. The Committee to Protect Journalists has raised concerns about press safety amid the ongoing conflict.
