The operation took place on April 3, 2026, near Kainuwa, under the watch of soldiers from 5 Brigade at Forward Operating Base Walada. The suspects, Bafanami Mallam and Bakolo Bako, were intercepted while attempting to cross the border. Officers recovered N159,500 in cash, a Tecno Android phone, a PalmPay debit card, their National ID cards, a Civilian Joint Task Force badge, and a Lake Chad Fishermen Association pass.
