Soludo’s Aide Pledges Post-Release Support for Reformed Awka Inmates

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, Nelson Omenugha, has visited the Awka Medium Security Custodial Centre and urged inmates to embrace patience, integrity, hard work and lawful livelihoods. During a tour of the centre’s vocational workshops, classrooms and rehabilitation units, he said incarceration should be used for reflection, self-improvement and preparation for a better future. He warned against the pursuit of quick wealth, which he said often pushes young people into crime. Omenugha pledged to explore post-release support for reformed inmates with vocational skills, including help to start small businesses. He also promised to facilitate equipment for skills-acquisition programmes at the facility. Correctional Service officials called for stronger collaboration with the state government on vocational training, rehabilitation and the reintegration of inmates into society.
