Bandits Kill Polytechnic Student, Driver and Abduct Passengers in Sokoto
Suspected bandits killed two people, including an Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic student, and abducted an unspecified number of passengers during an attack on a vehicle travelling from Goronyo to Sokoto State. The attackers reportedly stopped the vehicle carrying 12 passengers at Hawan Ado early on Monday, October 5. Sources said the driver attempted to escape but was shot alongside a passenger seated near him. The vehicle veered off the road, allowing some passengers to flee while others were taken away. The student was identified as Sadik Abdullahi, an ND II Building Engineering student who was less than two months from graduation. Sokoto police confirmed receiving reports that two travellers were killed but said the number of abducted passengers had not yet been established.
