Former Supreme Court Justice Umaru Kalgo Dies at 89
Former Supreme Court Justice Umaru Kalgo has died at the age of 89 and was buried according to Islamic rites. Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris described him as a distinguished son of the state whose career reflected integrity, fairness and dedication to justice. He prayed for Allah to grant the late jurist Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Justice Kalgo served as Chief Judge of Sokoto State before his elevation to the Court of Appeal and later the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He retired from the apex court in 2007 after decades of public service, including as chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.
