Three ISWAP Commanders, 22 Fighters Killed in Borno Clash
Three senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and more than 22 fighters were reportedly killed during a clash in the Mandaragirau area of Borno State. Security intelligence sources identified the commanders as Abu Khalid, Abul Baraa and Munzir. The three were reportedly among four senior ISWAP figures who coordinated an attack in the area. Reports also indicate that three commanders and between 15 and 20 fighters are still unaccounted for. Security agencies are monitoring surrounding communities amid concerns that surviving members may regroup or attempt retaliatory attacks.
