Suspected Criminal Lynched by Mob After Hospital Transfer
Residents of Kabanyo/Kanyagwal Ward in Nyangande Market, Kisumu County, stormed a hospital and lynched a suspected criminal. He had been captured and beaten earlier over alleged local crimes. Police rescued him and rushed him to medical care. Witnesses report that the mob regrouped and followed him to the ward. They overpowered the officers guarding him and forced their way inside. The crowd demanded to know why he should receive treatment only to return to crime. When the suspect did not answer, the mob removed his drips and dragged him out. They continued the assault until he died. The attackers then returned his body to the hospital morgue. Authorities have launched investigations into the killing and the breach of hospital security.
