Fake JAMB Training Link Nearly Cost Me My WhatsApp Account
After missing out on admission twice, I was determined to make my third JAMB attempt count. So when I saw an offer for free JAMB training, I almost signed up immediately. The form asked for my details, then a WhatsApp verification code arrived with a warning not to share it. That was the red flag. I contacted my brother, who works in cybersecurity, and he confirmed that it was a phishing attempt. Sharing the code could have given scammers control of my WhatsApp account. Scams often look convincing because they offer something we need. Never share your WhatsApp verification code with anyone, even if they claim to be from WhatsApp or are offering free lessons. A virtual class scheduled for 14 October will help persons with disabilities identify online scams and respond safely. Interested participants can register through the organisers to receive an invitation.
