Bandits killed two people and abducted several residents during separate attacks on Taloka and Huda communities in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Residents said armed men on about 20 motorcycles entered Taloka around 12:30 a.m. on August 10, firing shots and moving from house to house. They reportedly abducted residents, including the daughter and daughter-in-law of Alhaji Yusuf. Yusuf was initially taken away but was later killed after he said he could not continue because of his age. His nephew, Abdullahi Dan Almajiri, was also killed. In Huda, the attackers reportedly raided farmlands and forced five farmers onto motorcycles. One person was later released, while four others remained in captivity. Residents said the latest raid was the 11th attack on the community, which had previously suffered kidnappings and killings.

Authorities should prioritise rapid reporting channels, patrol coordination, and support for families affected by the attacks.
