Tinubu Begins Three-Week Europe Leave as Presidency Keeps Silent on Shettima’s Acting Role

President Bola Tinubu has travelled from Abuja for a three-week working vacation in Europe. The Presidency has not said whether Vice President Kashim Shettima will formally serve as acting president during the trip. Meanwhile, Tinubu’s legal team has asked a US federal court to prevent the release of decades-old FBI records linked to allegations of drug trafficking. The filing describes the documents as relating to a possible criminal investigation. Tinubu was never criminally charged and has consistently denied wrongdoing. The records are being sought through a Freedom of Information Act case involving the FBI file and a 1993 civil forfeiture matter in which Tinubu surrendered about $460,000 to US authorities. Separately, the ADC has demanded accountability for ₦15.8 trillion in subsidy-related revenue, while Moody’s revised Nigeria’s credit outlook from stable to positive.
