Wike Orders Demolition of Abuja Settlement Allegedly Used as Criminal Hideout

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered the demolition of Ruga, an alleged illegal settlement near Karmajiji in Abuja’s Kukwaba District. Wike said intelligence reports identified the settlement as a possible hideout for suspects after attacks in parts of the Federal Capital Territory. He described the area as a security risk because its occupants could not be easily identified. He directed the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Department of Development Control to work together on the demolition. The FCT Administration said the action is part of ongoing operations to dismantle criminal enclaves and improve public safety.
