NDC Supporters Protest in Kano Over Alleged Exclusion of Governorship Candidate
Hundreds of Kwankwasiyya Movement supporters protested at the Kano office of the Independent National Electoral Commission over the omission of NDC governorship candidate Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo from the published list for the 2027 election. Led by NDC deputy governorship candidate Mustapha Kwankwaso, the protesters submitted a petition seeking Gwarzo’s reinstatement. They also alleged that unauthorised substitutions of some candidates were made with documents carrying suspected forged signatures. Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner Abdu Zango said the complaints would be sent to INEC headquarters. He added that affected parties have until October 24, 2026, to appeal omissions from the list. The allegations of forgery and collusion have not been proven, and INEC has not announced findings against any official.
