Open Letter: Journalist Demands Evidence for Corruption Allegation

I write in response to Jayeola Ajasa’s claim that I am “the most corrupt journalist in Nigeria” following disagreements over the Osun governorship election. Political disagreement, criticism and unpopular analysis do not amount to proof of corruption. I challenge Mr Ajasa to produce evidence for the allegation and for every quotation attributed to me. He should identify who allegedly paid me, the transaction involved, the story or broadcast affected, and the original recordings, transcripts or publications that support his claims. I am willing to answer serious questions about my work and accept fair criticism of my journalism. However, allegations of bribery and fabricated quotations must be supported by verifiable evidence, not social-media outrage or political hostility.
