Abia, NRC Sign MoU for Umuahia Access Road Along Railway Corridor
The Abia State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Railway Corporation to build an access road linking Okpara Square and Akanu Ibiam Street in the Goodshed area to Bende Road, Umuahia. The proposed road is intended to ease traffic congestion and support the state’s plan to integrate the railway station, bus terminal and other transport facilities into a central transport hub. The state has directed relevant transport, works and urban development officials to begin work on the project. It also urged the NRC to consider expanding train services between Port Harcourt and Aba.
