Kebbi Police Secure Convictions of 19 Over Terrorism, Illegal Arms and Cable Theft
Kebbi Police Command says 19 people have been convicted after a 17-month investigation and prosecution involving terrorism, unlawful possession of firearms and vandalism of electricity infrastructure. Two defendants were sentenced to 15 years in prison on terrorism-related counts after police alleged they were transporting logistics for an armed group. The court also ordered the forfeiture of a vehicle and motorcycle linked to the case. Eleven others were convicted for possessing illegal firearms, while six people received prison terms of three to eight years for stealing and vandalising electricity cables in Sakaba Local Government Area. Police said the cable theft disrupted power supply in affected communities. The command says it will continue operations against terrorism, illegal arms and economic sabotage, urging residents to report suspicious activity to security agencies.
