Adeleke Thanks Tinubu After Osun Victory, Awaits Oyebamiji’s Call

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has thanked President Bola Tinubu after being declared winner of the August 15 governorship election. He said Tinubu called to congratulate him and praised the president for supporting democratic processes. Adeleke said there should be “no victor, no vanquished” and invited his opponents to work with his administration. He added that he expected the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call and congratulate him. INEC declared Adeleke winner after he polled 511,067 votes, ahead of Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes. Adeleke won 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11. ADC candidate Najeem Salam came third with 17,180 votes. The result gives Adeleke a second term as governor. He attributed his confidence in the outcome to his Christian faith.
