Met Police Officer Dismissed Over Unwanted Touching During Night Out
Acting Sergeant Rachel Bright of the Metropolitan Police has been dismissed after a misconduct panel found that she deliberately and repeatedly touched a woman without consent during a night out in Clapham Junction in December 2022. Bright, who was off duty at the time, was suspended after the incident was reported and later faced a sexual-assault charge. Although she was found not guilty at Kingston Crown Court in October 2024, the police carried out a separate professional-standards investigation. The misconduct panel found that her actions amounted to gross misconduct and breached policing standards on discreditable conduct. She was dismissed without notice and will be added to the College of Policing Barred List, preventing her from working in policing again.
