TCN Arrests Over 30 Suspected Vandals Targeting Power Infrastructure
The Transmission Company of Nigeria says it has apprehended more than 30 suspected vandals as it steps up efforts to protect transmission towers and other electricity facilities. At a public sensitisation exercise in Kano on Wednesday, TCN General Manager Muhammad Kamal-Bello urged communities to help safeguard installations, particularly along the Kumbotso-Zaria transmission line. He warned that digging near transmission towers could weaken their foundations, cause collapses and disrupt power supply. The campaign also highlighted the dangers of encroachment, electrocution and fire hazards around electricity infrastructure. Traditional leaders and residents were urged to report suspicious activity around substations, towers and other power installations to the relevant authorities.
