87-Year-Old Man Remanded After Allegedly Attacking Adamawa Judge With Cutlass
An 87-year-old man, Dahiru Garba, has been remanded in custody after he was arraigned over the alleged attack on an Area Court judge in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Police said Garba allegedly used a cutlass to inflict serious injuries on the hand of the presiding judge, Dauda Hamman, during proceedings in a case involving the defendant and another person at Mayo-Ine Area Court on August 31. The case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola for investigation. The defendant was later charged with causing grievous hurt. He reportedly pleaded guilty, expressed regret and blamed the devil for his actions. The Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola ordered his remand at the Yola Correctional Facility pending further hearing.
