Kenneth Okonkwo Says He Was Misled Over Peter Obi’s Anambra Debt Record
ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo says he was misled when he defended Peter Obi against claims that the former Anambra governor left behind debts and unpaid obligations. Okonkwo, who served as Obi’s spokesman during the 2023 presidential campaign, said recent disclosures by the Anambra State Government meant he could no longer repeat his earlier defence of Obi’s financial record. He said the state government disclosed that Obi’s administration took eight loans and allegedly owed salary arrears to workers at the state water corporation. Okonkwo said he would revise his position whenever new facts became available. He added that his approach to scrutinising Obi would be different ahead of the 2027 election.
