I heard that the girl involved in the Tony Elumelu encounter was awarded ₦500,000 and a stay at a five-star hotel by a special adviser to the Delta State governor. I have nothing against her. She was corrected on the spot by the CEO, and that should have settled the matter. But what exactly is being rewarded here? With unemployed graduates, widows, orphans and other vulnerable people in Delta State needing support, I question the priority behind this gesture. It feels more like a bid for attention than meaningful empowerment.
