Gunmen Kidnap Igbesi Monarch, Other Residents in Kwara Community
Armed attackers reportedly invaded Igbesi community in Oke Onigbin, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, and abducted the Onigbesi of Igbesi Land alongside several residents. Sources said the attackers stormed the community on Saturday, carried out the operation and took the monarch to an unknown location. The number of victims abducted and whether the kidnappers have contacted their families were not confirmed. The incident adds to growing fears over kidnappings and violent attacks in Kwara South. Igbesi is within trekking distance of my area, and I have repeatedly raised concerns about insecurity in Kwara despite being dismissed by people who do not understand the situation on the ground.
